Community Healthcare System to Host Stroke and Diabetes Awareness Fair at St. Catherine Hospital

 

EAST CHICAGO - Stroke and diabetes are the fifth- and eighth-leading causes of death and disability in the United States, respectively. To help educate the public and offer support, Community Healthcare System will host a Stroke and Diabetes Awareness Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at St. Catherine Hospital’s Professional Office Building, 4320 Fir St. in East Chicago. Free health screenings will be offered from 9 am to noon, and presentations will be held from 12:30 to 2 pm.

Screenings include:

  • A1C*
  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol*
  • Foot assessments

*10-hour fasting in recommended for blood screenings.

Event presentation topics include:

  • Diabetes
  • Stroke
  • Mediterranean Diet
  • Exercise and movement

Also, Community Healthcare System’s Farmers Market will be open from 11 am to 2 pm at St. Catherine Hospital’s North Entrance during the Stroke and Diabetes Awareness Fair. Stop by one or both events for a day of wellness.
