MUNSTER | During this year’s National Nurses Week, Community Hospital raised nearly $11,000 for the Cancer Resource Centre (CRC) in Munster.

To raise the $10,998, Community Hospital’s Patient Care Services staff raffled themed baskets filled with fun and valuable prizes. The fundraiser’s proceeds were donated to the CRC to benefit its free programs and services, which help people facing a cancer diagnosis as well as their families.

“We are so grateful to the Community Hospital nurses who worked tirelessly to give back to those who come to the CRC for comfort, support and education,” said Anthony Andello, CRC’s manager of outreach. “This generous donation goes a long way to help us provide care for those coping with cancer.”

Community Hospital’s Patient Care Services has been hosting the Nurses Week basket raffle since 2008, raising nearly $300,000 total for the CRC.

“Community Hospital’s nurses look forward to Nurses Week every year, and one of the reasons is the opportunity to raise money for the Cancer Resource Centre and all the good it does for those in need,” said Ronda McKay, Community Hospital’s chief nursing officer. “We are a top donor for the CRC, and we are so grateful to be able to give back.”
