EAST CHICAGO | Patients will experience a redesigned, spacious and advanced imaging suite when they visit the expanded Women’s Diagnostic Center at St. Catherine Hospital.

The center, located on the hospital’s first floor at 4321 Fir St., opened the transformed space with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 15. The center boasts a comfortable reception/waiting area, expanded exam rooms with dual state-of-the-art 3D mammography technology, and private, home-like changing rooms.

“Every detail delineated in this renovation was designed to put our patients at ease and to reduce anxiety during their visit,” Leo Correa, CEO of St. Catherine Hospital, said during the ceremony. “The Women’s Diagnostic Center of St. Catherine Hospital has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. Enhancements like these contribute to our reputation.”

The center also offers bone density and ultrasound services, as well as a private consultation room where patients can discuss their follow-up treatment plan with a breast health navigator.

“As healthcare providers, we know that when patients come to us, they’re receiving care from the best of the best, from our skilled imaging techs to our fellowship-trained breast radiologists to navigators who guide them through follow-up care in unfamiliar terrain,” Correa said.

The six Women’s Diagnostic Centers of Community Healthcare System consistently are recognized as Northwest Indiana’s leading providers in advanced diagnostic technology and services. The American College of Radiology designated breast imaging centers of excellence are supported by the expertise of fellowship-trained, dedicated breast radiologists. Patients often receive same-day mammography results.
