Committed to Your Care
quality

Our hospitals are committed to providing the safest and highest quality care to our patients. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our service, we participate with numerous agencies to monitor and report performance.

We are a member of the Northwest Indiana Patient Safety Coalition (NWIPSC). This group works together to make Northwest Indiana healthcare among the safest in the nation. You can find more information about the Northwest Indiana Patient Safety Coalition at www.nwipsc.org.

Our hospitals are part of the Hospital Engagement Network, an initiative designed to reduce patient harm by implementing best practices proven to reduce hospital-acquired conditions. In fact, St. Catherine Hospital is featured on the HEN website - for more information, go to www.hret-hen.org.

We participate in a program aimed at reducing and preventing hospital-acquired infections. Washing your hands is the most important thing you can do to prevent infection. We provide hand sanitizers at multiple areas in our hospitals, including convenient locations by the elevators where guests can cleanse their hands before visiting their loved ones. You can learn more about our specific infection rates at www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare.

We value the trust our patients place in us and encourage patients to take an active role in their own care. There are a number of different agencies that evaluate, compare and rate hospitals. Listed below are good sources of information to help patients make informed decisions about their care.
