A Mammogram Can Save Your Life

A mammogram is one of the simplest, most effective ways to protect your health. A non-invasive X-ray that checks for breast cancer and/or cysts, it is an effective test that can reduce breast cancer deaths. A mammogram can detect cancer early, when it is most treatable, increasing the chances for survival and helping you avoid more extensive treatments.

Advanced, Comfortable Care

Not only are our services convenient with six locations and same-day results, our centers are comfortable and welcoming. Very importantly, we also offer the latest in 3D technology to ensure the most precise images; and many of our physicians are fellowship-trained, dedicated breast radiologists.

When should I have a mammogram?
National guidelines for women who are not at risk are:

  • Age 40-44: can begin to have an annual mammogram;
  • Age 45-54: should have an annual mammogram;
  • Age 55 and older: every other year or continue annually.

Is a mammogram painful?

A mammogram can be mildly uncomfortable because of the pressure on your breasts, but the discomfort lasts just a few seconds as the X-ray is taken.

How quickly will I know the results?

We know that waiting for test results is stressful, so we make every effort to give you results the same day. If your test is late in the afternoon, the results will be available the following morning.

If your screening mammogram indicates that you need additional tests or treatment, Powers Health offers comprehensive breast cancer care and support services, from screening and diagnosis to surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and survivorship – all coordinated by our Breast Health Navigators.

A Team of Specialists:

Our breast cancer specialists work collaboratively to ensure that newly diagnosed patients can be seen by multiple specialists soon after diagnosis to fully explore their options for care.

Breast Health Navigators:

To help with this process of getting quick referrals, our Breast Health Navigators at all three hospitals will make appointments, coordinate follow-up testing, and make sure you get answers to your questions.

Accreditations:

Our hospitals have earned national accreditations for breast imaging, mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. We also offer breast MRI and Positron Emission Mammography (PEM) to meet all of your diagnostic needs. We offer quick turnaround times for testing that few hospitals can match.

High-Risk Breast Clinic and Research:

We also offer a High-Risk Breast Clinic, if needed, with on-site screening, educational services, and genetic counseling. Patients also have access to clinical trials through our Community Cancer Research Foundation.
