Our Approach

Low-dose CT lung cancer screenings help detect lung cancer.

Powers Health provides state-of-the-art care for the early detection, diagnosis and treatment for all stages of lung cancer.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, causing more deaths than breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer combined. Powers Health provides state-of-the-art care for the early detection, diagnosis and treatment for all stages of lung cancer.

Our low-dose CT lung cancer screening program helps to detect lung cancer for individuals most at risk, before symptoms appear.

A screening test performed with a low-dose CT scan is helping to detect lung cancer in its earliest stages which can greatly improve survival rates. The screening recommendations come from the National Lung Screening Trial that found people who got a low-dose CT scan had a 20 percent lower chance of dying from lung cancer.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends yearly lung cancer screening for people who have a 20 pack-year or more smoking history, and smoke now or have quit within the past 15 years, and are between 50 and 77 years old. A physician’s order is required for a screening.

Powers Health hospitals are designated a Care Continuum Center of Excellence for Lung Cancer by the GO2 Foundation.
