Radiation Oncology
Leading Edge Therapy to Treat Cancer
Our Approach
Our multidisciplinary approach ensures each cancer patient receives the most precise, effective treatment to eliminate tumors and cancer cells in a way that minimizes risk to healthy tissue and organs.
Before you begin radiation therapy, you will meet with a radiation oncologist to decide if radiation is needed for your treatment plan. Your doctor will review your records, perform an exam and together, you will work out the best treatment plan. Potential risks and benefits of radiation therapy will be discussed and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about the risks and intended results.
Treatments
CT SIMULATOR
Technology that maps tumors for individualized treatment plans.
CYBERKNIFE® SYSTEM
A fully robotic radiotherapy device that moves and bends around the patient to approach the tumor from thousands of unique angles.
EXTERNAL BEAM RADIATION THERAPY
A painless treatment in which the tumor is targeted by radiation delivered in a series of doses, like having a regular X-Ray.
HIGH- AND LOW-DOSE RATE BRACHYTHERAPY
Also called seed implantation, this treatment attacks cancer at its source, lessening risk to healthy tissue. This treatment may be effective for heart disease and for prostate, cervical and endometrial cancers.
IMAGE GUIDED RADIATION THERAPY (IGRT)
A procedure that uses digital imaging to locate the tumor at the moment of treatment. IGRT is used to treat areas of the body that move, such as the lungs.
INTENSITY MODULATED RADIATION THERAPY (IMRT)
RADIOPHARMACEUTICAL THERAPY
Treatment of metastatic prostate bone cancer and radioactive iodine for treatment of thyroid cancer.
SIEMENS BIOGRAPH® MCT IMAGING SYSTEM
High-definition PET/CT scanner.
STEREOTACTIC RADIOSURGERY (SRS)
Delivers intensive short-term radiation treatments for smaller tumors that are not suitable for traditional surgery.
TRUEBEAM RADIOTHERAPY
Innovative radiotherapy system delivers treatment with exceptional speed and accuracy.
