Cardiac Rehabilitation Services
Helping Patients Live Longer, Healthier Lives
The hospitals of Powers Health offer cardiac rehabilitation services for those with heart disease or have had a heart procedure or heart surgery.
Cardiac rehabilitation services combine cardiovascular conditioning exercise with education and counseling to make lifestyle changes that reduce the risk of heart disease or slow its progression.
Individuals benefit from experienced cardiac nurses, exercise physiologists and physicians who customize a program of exercise, education and counseling.
Benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation Services:
- Improve physical, heart and vascular function
- Improve strength and stamina
- Return to work or normal activities quicker
- Modify unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, poor weight control and physical inactivity
- Enhance self-confidence and improve quality of life following a cardiac event
- Reduce chances of having a heart attack or stroke
- Reduce hospitalizations
Your healthcare team will evaluate your health to make sure you are ready to participate in cardiac rehabilitation.
Phase 1
During your hospital stay, a cardiac rehab specialist will direct your physical activities and education. You will receive information about recovery and learn how to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
Phase 2
After your hospital discharge, you may enroll in the Phase 2 program. Once the doctor’s order is received, you will be scheduled for an evaluation and orientation with a cardiac rehabilitation specialist. Medicare and most insurance carriers provide coverage for Phase 2. The program meets three times per week.
Referring physicians are provided with regular progress reports regarding the status of patients enrolled in Cardiac Rehabilitation Services. Reports detail the patient's plan of care, goals and level of progress.
