Our Approach

Dizziness affects quality of life and often results in falls – the leading cause of injuries in adults 65 and older.

At Powers Health, we understand how serious and debilitating a condition dizziness can be. About 69 million Americans have experienced dizziness or imbalance at some time in their lives.

For many people with vestibular issues, the deficit is long-lasting because restoration in the vestibular system is limited. However, after vestibular system damage or dysfunction, symptoms may reduce and function improve through adaptation and compensation.

For some, compensation may occur naturally over time. However, for patients whose symptoms do not reduce and who continue to have difficulty returning to daily activities, therapy can assist in recovery by promoting adaptation, habituation and compensation exercises.

What to Expect

The goal of therapy is to use a problem-oriented approach to promote reduction in symptoms over time. This is achieved by customizing exercises to address the specific problem(s) of each individual.

Therefore, before an exercise program may be designed, a comprehensive clinical examination is needed to identify problems related to the vestibular disorder.
